How to Magnify Your Bright Spots

How many of us focus on all of our imperfections? How many of us look at what we can improve, instead of congratulating ourselves on a job well done thus far? Of the seven plus billion people on our planet, I’m going to go out on a limb and say, not many. We live in a world where the focus is mostly on the negative; headlines and news filled with so much negativity and unfortunately, it’s what ‘sells.’

Case in point, if a child comes home with two A’s, one B and an F on their report card, the parent, any parent would most likely skip over the A’s and B and ask what happened with the F on their credit report. Some parents wouldn’t even blink to commend their child on how well of a job they did on the other grades, because they’re so focused on the lower grade.

That is our society, that is how most of us live and how I used to live. I used to focus so much on my negative, that I projected out onto others, even though I was always known as the ‘smiling one.’ I am what you call, a recovering perfectionist. I used to set higher expectations on myself, therefore setting up higher expectations for those around me. I walked on a tightrope, they walked on eggshells. Maybe some of you can relate, as I used to always look out for all the things that could go wrong and you betcha, they always did.

I set my intention to focus on it and magically, things always went sideways. I used to blame everyone around me and looking back, I now send silent blessings to each one of the people who had to walk on eggshells around my old judgmental and controlling self. Conditions that I was taught in my childhood, something that I’ve learned to be loving and kind to myself along my healing journey. I’ve learned to magnify my bright spots in my own life, to nurture all the good in me so it could outshine all the other lower vibrational energies in me.

So can you.

Some of us hold onto our past and believe it is what makes us who we are and there nothing that we can do about it. I am here to tell you that there is, there is hope. Hope turns into belief and belief turns into faith. My darling, faith can move mountains, all you need to do is start by picking up one pebble and moving it.

MIRROR EXERCISE:

Take a small mirror or find a mirror to look into. Look into the mirror and tell yourself outloud, “ (Insert your name), I love and accept you just the way you are.”

There will be feelings inside of you bubbling up. Take time to feel them, to accept them, and then let them go.

Blessings.
