Sardinian Epiphanies

You have to live in Los Angeles to understand the sadness and emptiness which runs through so many veins. You have to have grown up in Southern California to understand the longing for a sense of community without drugs and alcohol. You have to have said, ‘the’ when you say our freeways to understand the need for something more.
I saw it in Zac Efron’s eyes last night in his Down to Earth Netflix Sardinian episode. His sad eyes yearned for something he was missing deep within his soul. Happiness. The kind of happiness that flows from within to pour onto others. Watch the eyes, they always tell the truth.
epiphany [ ih-pif-uh-nee ]: a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.
I hope Zac is doing okay now. Like a lot of other people I know, their sense of humanity and happiness has been the pinnacle of pain these last few months. Their defined worth stopped or lowered from hitting their bank accounts. I used to be them, I used to be you. I used to define my financial success as my worth and my goodness, I was as unhappy as Zac Efron. Who probably sits in his room at night, clutching his chest before he goes to sleep, wanting more. Through his eyes, I can sense that his soul craves more love, more happiness, more life, more of everything. Even though he has more material and financial wealth than most people.
You can feel lonely in a sea of people. Sometimes, you can feel lonely laying next to a person you believe you love and who loves you. This feeling is not something to be ignored, like the other feelings which knock on your chest . These feelings are your body’s way of warning you that your emotional state needs maintenance. It’s the red check engine light on your car’s dashboard. Your car is your emotional state.
We are the sum outcomes of our upbringing and our environments. There will be moments when your spirit guides and angels will bring you to a person, place, or meeting to gift you slivers of awareness.
The first time it happened for me was back in 2008. The city lights of majestic Florence sat below us as the Chianti poured and our laughter echoed into the dark woods of Fiesole. It was Roberto’s birthday and his eclectic, Moroccan backyard was lit up with pearls of light. The feeling inside of me was different from the Santa Ana backyard BBQs or the table service Vegas trips. Every Italian that evening enjoyed their cigarettes, their glasses of local wines, and the company to a degree I couldn’t understand.
That evening was simple. A six-course homemade meal to the homemade tortas at the end. There was something that happened inside of me that made me want more, which wasn’t so simple. My Italian boyfriend whispered sweet everythings in my ear that evening as Florence twinkled her lights below us.
That fateful night opened my eyes to more. More possibilities, more experiences, more love, more light, and more of something I have never felt before. Most importantly, it opened my eyes to me and what I needed.
These moments are the pinnacles of awareness. Gifted to you, by your spirit team and the Universe. These are the leads, nudges, and signs your soul has secretly wished for and your job is to act on them. Your soul has secretly wished for all of it, so believe your wishes are continually being granted every single day. So that you can build a new life, one where happiness springs from your soul. Where your eyes shine with joy instead of deep sorrow. Start planting the seeds today for tomorrow’s harvest. It’s never too late.
You are the creator of your life and when you know and believe you have your Higher Power, let it be Source, God, Allah, Buddha, whoever it is, on your side, the world is your oyster. All you have to do is create your life by intentional design and your Higher Power will co-create with you.
Just like that, badda bing, badda boom.
In Blessed Oneness.
